Entrusting Loved Ones to God’s Mercy

At The Life Celebrant , we understand that a Roman Catholic funeral is a sacred liturgy—a time to give thanks for a life lived and to entrust the soul to the eternal embrace of God. Grounded in the hope of the Resurrection, our services are conducted with the solemnity and grace required to honour the faith of the departed and provide spiritual comfort to the living.

Preparation:
The Dignity of the Person

We handle the preparation of your loved one with the highest level of care, reflecting the belief that the body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.

From the initial dressing to the setting up of a dignified wake space, we ensure every detail—including the placement of the crucifix and candles—creates an atmosphere of prayerful reflection.

The Funeral:Prayer and Memorial Mass

The funeral service is a powerful expression of faith. Whether it is a Service of the Word or a full Requiem Mass, we coordinate closely with the Parish to ensure the liturgy is seamless.

We assist with the selection of hymns, readings, and the coordination of the pallbearers, allowing the family to focus on the spiritual significance of the 'Final Commendation'.

Post-Funeral:
Perpetual Remembrance

Our care extends beyond the cemetery or columbarium. We assist families in arranging Memorial Masses on significant dates, such as the month's mind or the first anniversary of passing.

We provide a supportive presence to help you navigate the transition, ensuring your loved one’s legacy is preserved in the hearts of the community.

During the Vigil, the community gathers to offer prayers that serve as a bridge of hope. The rhythmic beauty of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Holy Rosary are often woven with selected Scripture, creating a meditative space to intercede for the soul of the departed.

These sacred words provide a profound sense of peace, reminding all present of the promise of eternal rest and the communion of saints that surrounds us."

We recognise that the days following a loss can feel overwhelming, as the weight of grief meets the necessity of tradition. At The Life Celebrant, we step in to carry that burden for you. By managing the intricate details of the Catholic funeral liturgy, we transform a time of distress into a meaningful journey of faith.

Our goal is to ensure you have the emotional and spiritual space to focus on what truly matters: saying a dignified and prayerful farewell.

A Catholic funeral is a time for the community to gather in prayer. Guests will encounter a atmosphere of quiet reverence, marked by symbolic rituals such as the sprinkling of Holy Water and the burning of incense, which represents our prayers rising to heaven. It is a service defined by Scripture and tradition, focusing on the promise of eternal life and the comfort of God’s love.

While the loss is deeply felt, the tone of the service is one of 'vigilant hope.' At The Life Celebrant, we help guide friends and family members who may be unfamiliar with Catholic traditions. From understanding when to stand or kneel to the significance of the Vigil prayers, we ensure everyone present feels included and supported in their journey of farewell.

A Community of Prayer and Solace

The Four Stages of the Final Journey

In Singapore, Catholic rites typically span three days, allowing the community time for prayer. We guide you through each of the four essential stages:

  1. The Point of Passing: Immediate care and preparation of the departed.

  2. The Vigil Service: A time for the community to gather for prayer and scripture.

  3. The Funeral Liturgy: The central celebration, often a Requiem Mass in the Parish church.

  4. The Rite of Committal: The final act of farewell at the place of rest.

Following Catholic tradition, the Rite of Committal concludes the service. Whether you choose burial or cremation, the Church teaches that remains should be interred together in a sacred place. We ensure this final step is handled with the utmost dignity, reflecting the sanctity of the body.

Frequently Asked Questions About Catholic Funeral Services in Singapore.

  • Non-Catholics are warmly welcomed to attend a Catholic funeral service and to pay their respects to the departed. They may participate in the prayers, hymns, and general flow of the service. The one exception is Holy Communion, which is reserved for Catholics who are properly disposed to receive it. Our team is experienced in gently guiding guests of all backgrounds through the etiquette of the service, so that everyone present feels included and supported, regardless of their own faith.

  • The Catholic Funeral Mass must be celebrated at a church. However, a funeral liturgy — a service of the Word without Mass — may be conducted at a funeral parlour if circumstances require it. In such cases, it is important to note that a formal eulogy is not permitted within the liturgy itself, though words of remembrance are encouraged and can be incorporated appropriately.

At TLC, we work closely with your Parish to navigate these requirements sensitively, ensuring the service is both liturgically correct and deeply personal.

  • Yes. In accordance with Catholic Church guidelines, Funeral Masses should not be celebrated on Holy Days of Obligation, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday, the Sundays of Advent and Lent, or during the Easter Season. On these days, the Rite of Committal still permits a funeral liturgy outside of Mass, with the distribution of Holy Communion where appropriate.

A Memorial Mass or service may also be arranged on an alternate date that is convenient for both your family and the Parish. Our team will advise you on the most suitable arrangements given the timing, and coordinate directly with the church on your behalf.

  • A Catholic funeral in Singapore typically unfolds across four stages: the Point of Passing, where your loved one is prepared with dignity and care; the Vigil Service, where the community gathers for prayer, scripture, and the Rosary or Divine Mercy Chaplet; the Funeral Liturgy, most often a Requiem Mass celebrated at the Parish church; and the Rite of Committal, the final act of farewell at the place of burial or rest.

TLC guides families through each stage, managing all logistics so you can be fully present for every moment of this sacred journey.

  • Contact our team at any time via our 24-hour helpline at +65 6684 8488 or on WhatsApp. We will liaise with your Parish, coordinate with the priest, and manage every practical detail — from the wake setup and pallbearers to post-funeral Memorial Masses on significant dates such as the month's mind or first anniversary of passing.
