Losing a loved one can be an overwhelming and devastating experience. If the death occurred overseas, it adds to the emotional pain and stress as you are not physically present with your loved one. At The Life Celebrant (TLC), we understand what you may be going through. We can provide you with support and assistance, including international Funeral Repatriation and Expatriation services.
What Needs to Happen
Whether you are looking to bring a family member home, or send a loved one back to their home abroad, our extensive experience in inbound and outbound funeral repatriation will ensure a safe, dignified journey for the departed.
In the event that a loved one passed away overseas,
we can make the travel arrangements to bring them back to Singapore safely. We work together with local authorities and Funeral Directors in the relevant countries worldwide to facilitate repatriation. Once your loved one has returned to Singapore, we can assist in arranging a proper funeral or a sea, land, or green burial as well. This way, you will be able to perform the final rites and say your final goodbyes.
If your loved one is a foreigner who passed away in Singapore,
you may choose to conduct the ceremony in Singapore, followed by cremation. Thereafter, we will send the ashes back home. Alternatively, you may choose to have your loved one embalmed and expatriated back to their hometown.

Funeral repatriation is the process of transporting a deceased person across international borders — either bringing a loved one home to Singapore from abroad, or sending them back to their home country from Singapore. It involves coordinating with embassies, airlines, customs authorities, and funeral directors to ensure a dignified and lawful journey.
Contact us as soon as possible via our 24-hour helpline. We will guide you through every step, including liaising with local authorities and funeral directors in the relevant country, obtaining the necessary documentation, and arranging the transportation home. Once your loved one arrives in Singapore, we can also help arrange the funeral service.
You may choose to hold a funeral service or wake in Singapore before repatriation, or proceed directly with embalming and transportation back to their home country. If preferred, cremation can be carried out in Singapore first, with the ashes returned to the family abroad.
Requirements vary by country but typically include a death certificate, embalming certificate, coffin sealing certificate, and clearance from the relevant embassy or consulate. Our team handles all of this on your behalf and keeps you informed throughout.
Timelines depend on the countries involved and the documentation required. We work as efficiently as possible whilst ensuring everything is handled correctly, and we will give you a clear estimate once we understand the specifics of your situation.
