Empower Your Family's Future with The Life Legacy

At The Life Legacy — the legacy planning arm of The Life Celebrant — we believe that a truly complete legacy protects not just your assets, but your family's peace of mind. A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is one of the most important steps you can take to ensure the people you love are never left without the authority to act on your behalf.
The LPA is a legal document backed by the Office of the Public Guardian under the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF). It enables you to appoint trusted individuals — known as donees — to make decisions on your behalf should you ever lose mental capacity.

Why the LPA is a Cornerstone of Legacy Planning
Many families in Singapore are unaware of what happens if a loved one loses mental capacity without an LPA in place. Without one, family members have no automatic legal right to manage bank accounts, property, or personal welfare decisions — regardless of how close the relationship.
Instead, they must apply to the court for a Deputyship order, a process that is costly, time-consuming, and deeply stressful during what is already an overwhelming time.
An LPA prevents this entirely — placing the decisions in the hands of the people you have chosen, not those appointed by a court.

What Can an LPA Cover?
An LPA in Singapore can grant your donee authority over two areas. Personal Welfare covers decisions about your daily care, living arrangements, and medical treatment. Property and Affairs covers financial matters — managing bank accounts, paying bills, and dealing with property. You may choose to grant authority over one or both areas, and you can appoint different donees for each if you wish.
Our team will help you understand the scope of each power and guide you towards the arrangement that best reflects your wishes and circumstances.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document that allows you to appoint one or more trusted individuals — known as donees — to make decisions on your behalf if you lose mental capacity.
