Christian Funeral Services

Honouring a Legacy of Faith

At The Life Celebrant, we believe a Christian funeral is a beautiful testament to a journey completed and a future promised. It is a time for the community to gather, not only to mourn a loss but to celebrate a life and the hope of eternal rest. We provide a supportive, grace-filled environment where your family can find comfort in scripture, song, and the shared memories of your loved one.

Preparation:
A Touch of Reverence

We handle the preparation of your loved one with the utmost dignity, ensuring they are presented with the respect they deserve. Central to this journey is our Showers of Love (SOL) ceremony—a bespoke, family-assisted experience for body cleansing, dressing, and makeup. This sacred ritual provides a private, intimate space for your family to share a final, heartfelt goodbye through a final act of service.

From these personal touches to the elegant floral arrangements of the wake space, we create a serene and natural setting that truly reflects the beauty of a life well-lived.

The Funeral:
Service and Celebration

Working alongside your Church and Pastor, we coordinate a service filled with meaningful hymns, scripture, and prayers. Whether held in a sanctuary or a funeral parlour, we ensure the liturgy flows seamlessly, allowing the congregation to focus on the message of hope and the legacy of the departed."

Post-Funeral:
Continued Compassion

Our care extends beyond the final benediction. We assist with the delicate transition following the service, managing the logistics of the final resting place and offering a compassionate presence as your family begins the process of healing and reflection.

A Community of Grace and Comfort

A Christian funeral is often a mix of solemnity and celebration. Guests can expect a service centred on the Word of God, filled with music that uplifts the spirit. It is a time where the community stands together, offering strength to the grieving family through shared prayers and a collective focus on the peace that surpasses all understanding.

While traditions may vary across denominations, the heart of the service remains the same: a focus on God’s love. At The Life Celebrant, we guide guests through the customs of the service, from the opening invocation to the final blessing. We ensure that every attendee feels the warmth of the community and the dignity of the occasion, making the experience one of shared solace.

During the wake, mourners can give eulogies celebrating the life and habits of their loved one, or share stories and happy memories from when they were alive. Hymns are also a common part of Christian Funeral Services, mourners may perform scripture readings and prayers. Following the wake, there are some common rituals that may be included in the funeral service:

Open Casket Viewing

As part of a Funeral Service of Christians, an Open Casket Viewing is typically held so that family members, friends, and loved ones can pay their respects. This can be held for several days to allow as many people as possible to pay their respects and say their final goodbyes.

Commendation

Following the viewing, a Commendation is often held in a Church or Christian Funeral Parlour. A Pastor or Minister will typically call for a period of silence before leading the prayer of Commendation, where the departed is commended to God as part of a final farewell. Mourners and family members may join in the prayer to celebrate the dearly-departed soul being entrusted to God’s love and mercy.

Committal

A final Committal takes place at the Church or funeral parlour before the burial or cremation service, and is the most solemn moment in a Christian Funeral Service. The Committal can be a highly emotional time for mourners, and The Life Celebrant is here to support you through the logistics of the day while ensuring your loved one is laid to rest with dignity and solemnity.
