Legacy Plant Singapore — A Living Memorial - The Life Celebrant

Burials & Cremations

Legacy Plant Singapore —
A Living Memorial

Honouring Life Through Nature

At The Life Celebrant, we believe in honouring a life in ways as unique as the person who lived it. Our Legacy Plant service offers a sustainable, eco-friendly memorial that allows your loved one to return gently to the earth — not as an ending, but as a beginning. A living tribute that grows, breathes, and flourishes alongside you at home.

Using a Bios biodegradable urn, your loved one's ashes are integrated into the soil of a specially selected plant — creating a living memorial that you can tend, nurture, and keep close. TLC is one of the few funeral providers in Singapore to offer this service, and we guide families through every step of the process with care and expertise.

From Ashes to Earth: The Bios Journey

The process begins with the collection of your loved one's ashes following cremation. These remains are placed within a Bios biodegradable urn — a vessel designed to break down naturally over time, releasing nutrients into the surrounding soil.

You may choose to display the urn as a standalone memorial at home, or have it integrated into a specially selected legacy plant, creating a living focal point for reflection and remembrance.

Nurturing the Roots of Remembrance

Our team assists you in selecting the perfect plant and pot to reflect your loved one's personality and your home environment. Once chosen, we lovingly place the remains into the Bios Urn and settle it within the pot.

We then nurture the legacy plant in our care for two to three weeks, ensuring the roots are well established before returning it to you — a living, growing testament to a life well lived.

Cultivating an Enduring Spirit

With TLC, your loved one's memory becomes a living part of the natural world. To ensure your memorial plant flourishes in Singapore's climate, we offer a curated selection of plants specifically chosen for their suitability to our tropical weather — from resilient indoor varieties to elegant statement plants that bring life and meaning to any home.

Please note that in Singapore, legacy plants must be kept as houseplants on your own private property. They may not be planted in public spaces, parks, or communal areas. Our team will advise you on the best placement and care for your plant to ensure it thrives as a lasting memorial in your home.

Our family is deeply grateful to The Life Celebrant team for their professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail. From the first moment, they guided us gently through every step and filled in the blanks when we had no idea what to do. They anticipated needs we didn’t think of, and created a farewell that was not only dignified, but also deeply meaningful and healing.

Special mention to Ms Michelle Koh, Ms Jamie, JK and the team — your kindness and respect made a very difficult time much lighter to bear. Thank you, TLC.

What Families Ask Us About Legacy Plants in Singapore

  • A legacy plant is a living memorial created using a Bios biodegradable urn containing your loved one's cremated ashes. The urn is integrated into the soil of a carefully chosen plant, where it breaks down naturally over time, nourishing the roots and allowing new life to grow from what remains.

It is one of the most intimate and eco-conscious memorial options available — a living, breathing connection to someone you love that grows with you at home.

  • No — and this is an important distinction that not all families are aware of. In Singapore, legacy plants must be kept as houseplants on your own private property. They cannot be planted in public parks, gardens, communal green spaces, or any land that is not privately owned.

Our team will guide you on suitable placement and care so your legacy plant thrives as a meaningful memorial within your home.

  • A biodegradable urn is a vessel made entirely from natural, compostable materials that breaks down harmlessly in soil over time. TLC uses the Bios Urn — one of the most established and trusted biodegradable urn products available — because of its proven design, which releases nutrients into the surrounding soil as it decomposes, actively supporting the growth of the memorial plant rather than simply containing the ashes.

It is a product that embodies the philosophy of the legacy plant itself: that something new and living can grow from loss.

  • TLC offers a curated selection of plants suited to Singapore's tropical climate, including the Zamioculcas Zamiifolia (ZZ Plant), Adenium Bonsai (Desert Rose), Ficus Lyrata (Fiddle-Leaf Fig), and Areca Palm.

Our team will help you choose based on your home environment, the amount of natural light available, and what feels most reflective of your loved one's personality. There is no single right answer — only the choice that feels most meaningful to you.

  • Yes. A legacy plant is a non-religious, culturally neutral memorial option that is open to families of all faiths and backgrounds. Some families choose it as a standalone memorial, whilst others combine it with a religious funeral service as an additional, personal way to keep their loved one close.

Our team will ensure the arrangement is handled with full respect for your family's beliefs and traditions.
