Step 2: Access the Digital Death Certificate via Singpass
Rather than collecting a physical document from a police station or the ICA building, you can now download the digital death certificate independently using your Singpass credentials. You must access the MyLegacy portal yourself to obtain the digital death certificate. to register the death and obtain the certificate. You'll need:
The deceased's NRIC, FIN, or passport number
Death document death certificate number (or Confirmation of Death document number) number (provided by the hospital or attending doctor)
Date of death
Your own Singpass login credentials
Step 3: Download and Use the Certificate
Upon approval, you'll receive an email notification to download the digital death certificate within 30 days. This digital version is legally recognised and can be used for all administrative purposes. The process is entirely self-service through the Singpass system. ICA and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) guidance generally states that once a death has been registered with the local authorities abroad and a foreign death certificate is obtained, the next-of-kin (or authorised representative) should then report the death to ICA to update Singapore’s registry. 
There is no specific legal deadline published on the ICA site for how many days after the death overseas this report must be made, but the authorities strongly advise families to do so promptly to avoid delays in estate, CPF, property and other post-death administrative matters.
